From Insight to Impact: Testing Behavioral Solutions for Youth Empowerment

On 22–23 December 2025, BIRD Lab, in collaboration with UNICEF and with support from the
Mastercard Foundation, successfully held a Behavioral Solutions Testing Workshop in Adama
focused on youth employment, continued education, and skills acquisition.
The two-day workshop brought together 43 participants—including young women, young men,
youth with disabilities, program staff, SBC coordinators, and community facilitators from
Amhara, Tigray, and Afar—to turn behavioral evidence into practical, inclusive solutions.

Using behavioral science tools such as COM-B mapping, EAST framework, and a
Feasibility–Impact Matrix, participants co-designed, prioritized, and rapidly tested solutions
directly with youth, refining them based on real-time feedback.
This workshop reinforced a critical lesson: testing behavioral solutions before scaling programs
leads to stronger, more effective impact—especially for complex youth development
challenges.

Our sincere thanks to UNICEF, the Mastercard Foundation, and all participants and facilitators
for their commitment, collaboration, and energy.
