Organizational Background
The Behavioral Insight Research and Design (BIRD) Lab is hosted at Addis Ababa University, School of Public Health. BIRD Lab works in partnership with UNICEF and national stakeholders to generate behavioral evidence that informs policy and programme design.
With support from development partners, BIRD Lab implements research, communication, and capacity-building projects aimed at improving public health, education, and community engagement outcomes.
To support its communication and knowledge dissemination activities, BIRD Lab is seeking a qualified and creative Graphic Designer.
Job Summary and Key Responsibilities
The Graphic Designer will be responsible for the following tasks:
Design high-quality visual materials including posters, brochures, reports, infographics, social media graphics, and presentations.
Develop creative concepts aligned with project objectives and organizational branding.
Support the design of training materials, study reports, and promotional content.
Ensure consistency in layout, typography, color, and branding standards.
Collaborate closely with the project and communication teams to understand design needs.
Revise and improve designs based on feedback from supervisors and stakeholders.
Prepare final design files for print and digital publication.
Manage multiple design tasks and meet agreed deadlines.
Maintain organized archives of design files and project materials.
Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to support other communication-related tasks.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Multimedia, or related fields.
Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in graphic design.
Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, or equivalent tools.
Strong portfolio demonstrating creative and professional design work.
Good understanding of layout, typography, and branding principles.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Strong communication and time management skills.
Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
